COP30 TABLOID MEMO

LARGE-FORMAT EDITORIAL DESIGN | PRINT PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT | ASSEMBLY & DISTRIBUTION

Q&A partnered with a global think tank to design and produce a large-format editorial memo for the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30).

The print tabloid communicated advanced climate insights into a clear, engaging, and narrative-forward piece. Authored by a respected global voice in climate and innovation, the memo was created for an informed audience of grantees, investors, and scientific partners who expect both intellectual rigor and a personal, considered presentation.

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED: As the project evolved, the format and tone of the publication shifted to reflect changes in audience and distribution context. This required rethinking the form factor, paper choice, and binding approach while design development was already underway. Each decision had implications for cost, production timelines, and the end reader experience.

SOLUTIONS IMPLEMENTED: Q&A worked closely with our print partners to explore layout and production options in parallel with editorial refinement. Multiple paper dummies were produced to test scale, weight, texture, and how the design would perform across different paper stocks. These explorations informed adjustments to typography, pacing, and white space to ensure the final piece felt intentional, approachable, and aligned with the desired tone. By engaging production partners early and iterating collaboratively, we were able to adapt the design without sacrificing quality, schedule, or intent.

RELEVANCE TO SPU:

  • Demonstrates experience managing print design decisions that evolve alongside content and format changes

  • Reflects a deep understanding of how paper, scale, and production choices affect clarity and public perception

  • Shows thoughtful collaboration with print partners to achieve the right balance of quality, feasibility, and impact
