The Builder Grant Program, presented by the Kitsap Building Association, is a full-time, six-week internship in the home construction industry, targeted toward 18-24 year-olds. For kids who are not moving on with a four-year degree, this program provides opportunities to receive on-the-job training and seed money for tools they’ll need if they choose to seek full-time work in the trades. The program focuses on carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting / coating, and HVAC. Students are teamed up with a mentor to help shepherd them through the learning process and gain real-life experience.
Our Approach
We studied both the trade industry and the target audience: high school age kids without plans to get a college degree. Demographics for the 2023 program were 60% male, 40% female. Most of these kids were under the age of 20. Most were 18 years of age.*
Q&A developed multiple concepts and tagline options, which were narrowed down to three choices by the client.
The Results
The three concepts were presented to a focus group comprised of 18-24 year-olds. Through their participation, interaction, and buy-in, we were able to confidently finalize the logo and tagline.
