Choose your warriors and join us at the National Nordic Museum's Midsommar Kubb Tournament.

The game set up for Kubb and the King peg in center of the Kubb pitch.
All hail the King. The King will soon be toppled.

No, it was not invented by vikings using bones and skulls. But it's okay to pretend it was if you want. And it comes from a bunch of other similar games with names like kilkasting and kägelkrig. It probably dates back to the 1800's. And there are tournaments all over the place. People camp out at Kubb gatherings and have a pretty good time. They even have a song.

Don't ask me how to play it. It's not hard. It's really fun. It's very Scandinavian. Very midwest. So obviously you can play it drunk. Like a slightly more involved Corn Hole. But the rules are... well they'd take too long to explain and you should just watch video, okay.

But the basics are this: You mark off an area like a lawn bowling pitch and throw wood pegs and wood blocks. And then for some reason you get then throw the blocks you knocked over to create a barrier for the other team. Sort of. Oh. And you have to throw the pegs a certain way or everybody yells at you.

Forget Pickel Ball, Kubb is where it's at. Kubb is the sport of the future.

And the on June 21st, the National Nordic Museum in Seattle is hosting a tournament. It would be well worth your time to check it out.

Ha det så kul!
